Allow a full day from Murmansk

Our Teriberka Day Trip from Murmansk lasts about ten hours. The drive is approximately two hours each way, with longer travel possible in difficult conditions. The remaining time is for stops, walking and a meal break.

A ten-hour programme is an estimate, not a promised return time. If you are comparing a short stay with a longer one, read our guide to three or four days in Murmansk and Teriberka and count the full days between your flights.

Check road access before setting out

The land tour operates throughout the year, subject to road access. Winter closures can affect whether a departure goes ahead. A reservation does not make a closed road passable, so ask the manager how the conditions affect your particular date.

Before booking, discuss what would happen if the route cannot operate: whether another day is possible, what alternatives can be offered and which booking terms apply. Do not assume that a replacement excursion or a refund follows one fixed rule across every programme.

Leave some room in your itinerary where possible. Moving a coastal day is easier when you still have another usable day in Murmansk, although a longer stay cannot guarantee access either.

Which places are on the route?

The published programme includes the old village, the ship graveyard, the sandy bay, Dragon Eggs Beach and the Battery Waterfall area when access allows. Weather and conditions can change the order of stops and which parts of the coast are accessible.

Ask about the current walking route if a particular stop is your main reason for visiting. Snow, ice and uneven ground matter more than a photograph of the same place taken on a different day. Tell the manager about mobility needs or concerns about walking before booking.

A winter sled transfer may be offered when relevant, but it is confirmed separately. Check whether it is needed for your departure and what the arrangements are; do not assume that it is automatically included.

The land tour and the boat trip are different bookings

The standard Teriberka Day Trip is a land excursion. It includes return transport from Murmansk, English-speaking accompaniment and nature park entry. It does not include sailing.

If time at sea is part of your plan, compare the separate Teriberka and Boat Tour with the land programme and confirm whether sailing can operate on your date. Our land tour or boat trip guide explains the different formats and starting points. Neither a boat booking nor a season guarantees a wildlife sighting.

What to wear and how to plan lunch

Pack thermal base layers, a warm middle layer and a windproof, waterproof outer layer. Bring insulated boots with grip, a hat, gloves and a scarf. Clothing needs to work for coastal wind and walking on winter ground, not only for the heated drive.

Meals are not included in the land programme. A restaurant table can be pre-booked, with payment made directly at the restaurant. Mention dietary requirements when discussing the day rather than waiting until the meal stop.

Use our trip preparation guide to check your packing. When you contact us, send your dates, the number of guests, children’s ages if relevant, hotel location and any walking requirements. Those details help us discuss a workable departure with you.

Check the programme for your dates

This guide follows the linked Visit Teriberka tour and preparation pages, reviewed on 11 October 2026. Check the current programme before booking, especially the departure arrangements, winter access and any optional transfers.
