3 days in the Russian Arctic: two evenings searching for northern lights, a day on the Arctic Ocean coast in Teriberka, and an animal park with a Sámi programme. Depart after the Sámi programme on day three.
Meet your airport transfer and settle into your chosen accommodation. Arrive in time for the evening departure; we check your flight times before confirming the programme. Later, leave the city lights behind for your first northern lights hunt.
A route chosen for the night
Before departure, we check cloud cover and aurora activity, then choose a route away from Murmansk’s streetlights. There is no single fixed viewing spot: the aim is to find open skies and a clear view, and the route may change as conditions develop.
Time beneath the Arctic sky
At our stops, step outside, let your eyes adjust to the darkness and watch the sky with your guide. If the aurora appears, take time to follow its changing shapes and movement. You can return to the vehicle to warm up between outdoor stops.
Timing & photography
An outing usually takes 3–5 hours, including travel and viewing stops. The exact departure and return times depend on the route and conditions that evening. We confirm your meeting point and timing in advance; ask us about photography arrangements when planning your trip.
Get ready for the cold
Bring warm layers, insulated boots, a hat and gloves: watching the sky means spending time outdoors, often standing still. If you would like to take your own pictures, bring your camera. Confirm any photography assistance or refreshments with us before the trip.
Day 2
Teriberka & the Arctic Ocean coast
Spend the day in Teriberka on the Barents Sea, part of the Arctic Ocean. The park entrance ticket is included.
Across the Arctic tundra
Travel from Murmansk through open tundra, low hills and lakes. Where road conditions allow, pause at viewpoints for photographs of the northern landscape.
The ship graveyard
See the weathered wooden hulls of abandoned fishing boats. These remains connect today’s Teriberka with the village’s maritime past and its fishing traditions.
Dragon Eggs Beach
Walk beside the large, rounded boulders that give this beach its name. Waves have smoothed the stones along this striking stretch of the Arctic Ocean coast.
Battery Waterfall
Visit the waterfall area, where water from Small Battery Lake flows towards the Barents Sea. Its appearance changes with the season; access depends on conditions.
Old Teriberka & the sandy beach
Explore the sandy bay, the giant seaside swing and the old boat on the shore. Take time for photographs and views across the water.
A lunch stop in the village
We reserve a table at a local restaurant. Meals are not included: choose from the menu, order and pay directly.
The order of coastal stops follows weather and access conditions.
Your second northern lights hunt
Save 1 000 RUB per person on your second outing when booking both northern lights hunts. The saving is already included in your calculation for group and private tours. The 5% child reduction applies to the discounted price.
After your day on the Arctic Ocean coast, set out for another evening beneath the northern sky. We check the latest cloud and aurora conditions again, so the route and viewing stops may differ from the first night.
Two outings give you two opportunities to experience the lights under different conditions. If the first evening was cloudy, this is another chance to look for clearer skies; if you already saw a display, the second evening can bring a different experience. The departure time is coordinated with the return from Teriberka. Sightings depend on nature and cannot be guaranteed.
Day 3
Northern animals & Sámi culture
Visit an animal park and join the Sámi programme. From September to November, enjoy the animal park and Sámi programme without snow activities. Winter riding starts from 1 December, subject to sufficient snow and the venue’s programme. You can add a 30-minute or one-hour snowmobile session with two people sharing a snowmobile. Afterwards, take your return airport transfer. Choose a departure late enough for the programme and transfer.
Northern lights are a natural phenomenon: sightings cannot be guaranteed on either outing. We check flight times, activity slots, road and weather conditions before confirming the programme.

Important to know
A few practical details before your Arctic adventure.
When does the programme start?
The programme runs from 1 September. In September, October and November, the animal park and Sámi programme take place without snow activities. Snow activities are available from 1 December, provided there is sufficient snow and suitable conditions.
Can children join the tour?
Families are welcome. As on our main tours, we recommend this programme for children aged six and over; tell us about younger children so we can discuss a private family itinerary. Share every child’s age so we can check riding eligibility. The calculator applies a 5% child discount to excursions and the optional snowmobile session.
What if the road to Teriberka is closed?
Winter weather can close the road or restrict access to coastal stops. If this happens, we will discuss a suitable alternative programme and any price adjustment with you. The arrangements for your selected tour are confirmed before booking.
When should we arrive and depart?
Arrive with enough time for the airport transfer, check-in and the first northern lights outing. On day three, allow time for the animal park and Sámi programme before your departure transfer. Send us your flight details before purchasing tickets so we can check the timings together.
What should we wear and bring?
Dress in warm layers with a windproof outer layer. Bring insulated boots with good grip, thermal clothing, a hat, gloves and a scarf. Carry a small backpack for extra layers and essentials. Aurora viewing includes time standing outdoors; coastal walks can be windy and slippery.
Where will we eat?
Meals are not included. We reserve a table; you choose, order and pay for your meals directly. For private groups, we can arrange a food pre-order on request. Please tell us about allergies and dietary requirements in advance; we will check what the restaurant can accommodate.
Are flights and accommodation included?
Flights and train tickets are not included. Accommodation is optional: book it yourself or ask us for a quote for each night. You can combine one igloo or dome night with city hotel nights. Hotel prices awaiting confirmation are excluded from the calculator subtotal.
Are the northern lights guaranteed?
Both programmes include two evening outings. We choose viewing locations using cloud and aurora forecasts, but a sighting cannot be guaranteed. Routes and departure times can change with the conditions.
How do the three- and four-day programmes differ?
Both include two aurora outings, Teriberka and the Sámi programme. The four-day tour adds a third night and a city tour with the Lenin icebreaker. The onboard museum visit is in Russian; English-speaking accompaniment is provided for the city programme. Museum access depends on its schedule.
What should we know about winter riding?
Winter riding is planned from 1 December and requires sufficient snow and suitable conditions. The optional snowmobile session is priced for two people sharing one machine. Driver and passenger eligibility, including children’s participation, is confirmed with the venue.
